Fort Albany Power Corporation (FAPC) is owned by Fort Albany First Nation (FAFN) and it is a non-share capital corporation. Fort Albany Power Corporation is the local distributed (LDC) of sole supplier of electricity in the community of Fort Albany, Ontario.

 

Fort Albany Power Corporation was incorporated in 1997 and the original board members were Chief Arthur Scott of Fort Albany First Nation, Late Ernie T. Sutherland, Executive Director of Mushkegowuk Council and Merv Mcleod of McLeod Wood Associates. The Board members were replaced by five community members of Fort Albany, Stella Koostachin, Edmund Nakogee, Patricia Sutherland, George Edwards and Alex Solomon.

 

Fort Albany Power is a one third owner of Five Nation Energy Inc. (FNEI) the other owners are Attawapiskat Power Corporation and Kashechewan Power Corporation. FNEI is a Transmitter.

 

Fort Albany Power is a license LDC approved by Ontario Energy Board (OEB) and buys whole sale electricity from Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). IESO is the only license that can sell electricity in Ontario.
